We arrange our books first by collection:

  • Main collection (circulating books - or more simply, books you can check out)
  • DVD collection
  • Best Sellers collection (books on the New York Times' Best Sellers List)
  • Graphic novels
  • Children's literature collection
  • Reserve collection (items put on reserve by professors)

All of our items in the Main Collection are arranged by call numbers from the Library of Congress Classification System, which organizes every item by subject area. The Library of Congress Classification System is filed first alphabetically, then by number. You can read more about the system in our answer to "How do I use call numbers to find a book on the shelf?"
